The Absa Premiership title race takes center stage this evening when Orlando Pirates host Mamelodi Sundowns this evening.
Pirates’ last game before the international break was a 2-1 loss to Horoya which saw them crash out of the CAF Champions League, leaving the league as their last hope of claiming a trophy this season.
In the league though, Milutin Sredojevic’s charges were held to a 1-1 draw by Bloemfontein Celtic, a result which left them three points behind Sundowns in third spot.
On the other hand, the Brazilians could take a giant leap towards winning the league with victory this evening, as that would take them five points clear of second-placed Bidvest Wits and six points clear of Pirates.
Pitso Mosimane’s troops were also busy with the Champions League assignment before the international break, as they lost 1-0 to Wydad Casablanca in Rabat, but qualification to the last was already confirmed.
Sundowns were victorious in their last league outing, with goals from Emiliano Tade and Lebohang Maboe securing a 2-1 win over relegation-threatened Maritzburg United.
